Napkin Folds on Videos : Napkin folding flame - Pliage en flamme
To fold a napkin into a flame, begin with the napkin flat on the table in front of you, fully opened, in a square shape. Take the bottom left and right corners and fold upward one third of the way. Take the top left and right corners and fold down so they meet their respective lower edges. This forms a horizontally elongated rectangle. Smooth out the wrinkles by pressing with both hands from the center moving toward the outer edges.
Take the left side of the triangle and fold vertically one third of the way across. Fold the upper left corner down toward the center.
Rotate the napkin 90 degrees clockwise. You are now seeing a vertically elongated rectangle with a triangle attached to the bottom. Fold this newly folded triangle upward. Its top edge should meet that of the layer below it. Press firmly to tighten the layers. Fold upward 3 more times, covering all of the remaining areas of the vertically elongated triangle in the bottom layer.
If you have followed the steps properly, you are now viewing a deltoid (kite) shape, with the longer point pointing upward. The bottom point is 4 layers thick. Fold 2 of those layers upward to form a small triangle with a flat edge at the bottom. Flip the napkin over. Do the same to the other two layers, forming a small triangle on the other side.
Flip the napkin halfway, opening the lower gap at the bottom (where the two triangles you just created reside on each side). Lift the napkin and place this gap face down toward the table to be displayed, being cautious not to allow any of your work to unfold in the process. You now have a flame shaped napkin.
